How I Use My Business Email to Access Google & Microsoft Tools for Free
Did you know you can use your own business email (like you@yourcompany.com) to access Google Docs, Microsoft Word, OneDrive, and more — all without paying for Workspace or Microsoft 365? In this post, I’ll show you how I set it up for free — and how you can do the same.

📁 Step 1: Get Your Business Email (Without Workspace or 365)
If you already have web hosting (like Hostinger, Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.), you probably get free email hosting via Webmail (cPanel, Roundcube, etc.). Here's what I did:
Bought a domain: mycompany.com
Created an email: hello@mycompany.com
Accessed it via Webmail
📅 Result: A professional-looking email address with no extra software cost.
📟 Step 2: Register for Free Google and Microsoft Accounts
Even though your email isn’t @gmail.com or @outlook.com, you can still use it to create free accounts:
→ Google Account
Go to: accounts.google.com/signup
Choose "Use my current email address instead"
Enter your business email
Set a password and verify it
Now you can use:
Google Docs, Sheets, Slides
Google Drive (15GB)
Google Calendar, Forms, etc.
→ Microsoft Account
Go to: signup.live.com
Choose “Use your email instead”
Enter your business email
Set a password and verify
Now you can use:
Word Online, Excel, PowerPoint
OneDrive (5GB)
Microsoft Teams (web version)
🚀 All free, all linked to your real business identity.
❌ What You Can’t Do (And Why That’s Okay)
You can’t use Gmail or Outlook.com to check your business email directly
You must still log into your Webmail interface (e.g., Roundcube)
Limited to online versions of Google and Microsoft tools
But honestly? For startups and solopreneurs, this setup gives you 80% of the power without any of the cost.
📆 Bonus: Upgrade Only When You Outgrow This
Eventually, if you want:
Mobile sync + desktop Outlook/Gmail
Shared Drives or Google Meet premium
Full Microsoft Teams functionality
Then you can consider upgrading:
Zoho Mail (Free custom domain email + better webmail UI)
Google Workspace (~RM28/user/month)
Microsoft 365 Basic (~RM25/user/month)
Until then, this hack works beautifully.
💾 Final Thoughts
This lean setup is perfect for:
Freelancers & consultants
Solopreneurs
Side hustlers
Bootstrapped startups
You get the best of both Google and Microsoft — and keep your costs at $0.
